Hello! My name is Reece Bachta, and I'm 21 years old from Leawood, Kansas. I'm currently a Junior at Kansas State University, majoring in Public Relations and Advertising, and working towards a certificate in Social Media Management. I graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 2022 and am an active member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.
Right now, I'm a student intern photographer for K-State Athletics, a role I started in late September 2023. This season I am proud to be the K-State Women's Basketball Team Photographer. I'm incredibly grateful for all the experiences and adventures this position has brought me. My passion for photography began the summer before my sophomore year of high school when I picked up a camera for my school's yearbook and newspaper. Since then, I've been captivated by all things photography. While my main focus is sports photography, I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone. I've photographed various events, including sorority functions, graduation pictures, and family portraits.
When I arrived at K-State, I knew it was my home. I set a goal to get involved in sports photography and aimed to join the creative content team for K-State Athletics. As a freshman, I worked for the Collegian Media Group, specifically the Royal Purple Yearbook and Collegian Newspaper, as a photographer and designer. I seized every opportunity to learn and grow my skills. At the end of my freshman year, I was honored to receive two scholarship awards: the Linda S. Puntey Royal Purple Rookie of the Year Award and the Tim Janice Rookie Photographer of the Year Award. I'm thankful for the opportunities CMG provided, which have been instrumental in my career development.
Receiving the call in late September offering me the student intern photographer position was one of the best days of my life. I'm blessed to work for K-State Athletics, surrounded by influential and talented coworkers and leaders, and to be part of an incredible collegiate sports atmosphere.
This is just the beginning, and I'm excited to see what the future holds. As always... Go Cats!
